Life Philosophy
I'm sitting on my sofa in meditation, trying to grasp the shifts in my own energy since a recent big life change. I've been feeling off, but the source is difficult to pinpoint.
In my mind's eyes, I see a fluid being with permeable boundaries. I feel my energy spilling out of my body in multiple directions. These past weeks, I've felt unclear, less grounded, and struggled to focus.
Suddenly, it hits me... Indecision.
Should I stay, or should I go? Do I turn left, or right? Option A, or B?
Have you ever been faced with indecision?
You have a big decision at hand, and both sides are riddled with pros and cons. The temptation to opinion shop all of your friends floods your being, as if an outsourced answer holds more truth than your own. You so desperately want someone else to show you the way, to tell you what to do, but the most "correct" answer will only come from within you.
Unmade decisions, or indecision, creates what I call, leaky energy.
In this amoebic state of mind, our brain is fostering a back-and-forth, yoyo energy, that translates to I don't know what to do. I don't know what I want. I don't know who I am.
A lack of clarity in a decision represents a lack of clarity in one Self.
This micro-moment of life translates to the macro-notion of our identity, and can be extremely disjointing if not quickly addressed.
I once wrote a blog post on The Art of Decision Making, inspired by my time traveling the country, which might as well have been called a decision-making-marathon. Making decisions, especially if you are deriving answers exclusively from within, is not an easy act.
The beauty is, decisions, while seemingly stressful, are actually perfectly packaged gifts from the Universe, granting us a special opportunity to level-up. Through this fork in the road, we evolve our souls.
The Beauty of Decision-Making
What happens when we make a decision?
We Declare Who We Are
The Universe throws obstacles at us as opportunities for us to “clear the air.” It wants to know, Who are you really? How much have you grown? What level of self-worth do you identify with now? A lot of life has gone by, and this is the perfect opportunity for a check-in. Through this circumstance, we are given the opportunity to make a statement about who we are on a core level.
When you tell the Universe who you are, it will bring more of it to you.
2. We Increase Our Frequency
When we rely solely on ourselves for answers, we are conveying a bold statement of trust in ourselves. We see ourselves as our own guru and leader, and in that, our frequency lifts to match that state of being.
Each of us has a "highest self," our most transcended version of Self. We move through many lifetimes, conquering strategic obstacles that allow our souls to grow and our vibrations to lift. After our final lifetime, in which we embody our most evolved self, we transcend into an angelic state of being, our ultimate "highest self." This version of Self is present with us in every lifetime, as a "North Star" for us to tap into and channel for guidance.
3. We Amplify Our Personal Power
Living with indecision is like heating a home with open windows in every room. No matter how hard we try to move forward, our energy is constantly escaping at the seams.
When we make a decision, we seal all of our windows. Our inner space becomes strong, clear, and effective. Our energy is no longer insecure and unproductive. Our identity is defined and our personal power amplifies.
Making a Decision
Even if the decision is to do nothing at all, that's a damn clear decision. Whatever we choose, we choose it with every ounce of our being, and commit to this with certainty. We might take it a step further and type up a literal contract with our Self, signing it to symbolize our commitment forward. I'll place this printed contract in a special folder, or hang it on a strategic wall.
Now, when we wake up each morning, we know who we are and what we have agreed to on an intrapersonal level.
We allow this decision to become our new anchor, so that all of the other details of our lives can be confidently sculpted around this.
We Can Change Our Mind
Choosing yes or no, left or right, is essential in dissipating foggy mental energy, and sealing up our energetic boundaries, so that we are not leaking everywhere. But know, we can change our minds. If we are deeply unsure about our decision, we can make a temporary decision to solidify our energy in the meantime. I'll typically schedule a date on the calendar in which I will reassess the decision and see if changes need to be made.
What If We Decide Wrong?
In most cases, there is no "right" answer. All choices are correct, and will simply yield different opportunities for growth. The power in making a decision is not making the "right" one, but simply making one, so that we emanate clarity in our Self, firm up our energetic boundaries, and are able to move forward.
